Lyris List Manager (the e-list service many rely on for mass communication) is being replaced, but your e-lists aren’t going away! Simplelists, a new platform, will replace Lyris and become Cornell’s new e-list service in 2026.

Although the timeline for transitioning to Simplelists is still evolving, CIT will keep each e-list owner updated with news of the coming change.

Here’s what you need to know about the transition.

Why Is Lyris Being Replaced?

The Lyris platform is unable to evolve with the rapid changes in email security worldwide, causing it to have increasing difficulty in delivering email. Additionally, Lyris is no longer supported. Continued use of an unsupported platform puts the technological security of Cornell and its community at risk.

The Plan

  • A small pilot group has already tested Simplelists.
  • Most e-lists will be able to easily migrate to Simplelists.
  • Solutions for those few e-lists that need more than what Simplelists can provide will be announced later.
  • Documentation will be available to assist with migrating to, learning, and using the new platform.
  • The Email Services team will be in touch with e-list owners to assess needs and assist with migration.

Timing for these transitions is still being planned.

If you are affected by the transition from Lyris to Simplelists, we invite you to share your questions or concerns
