At the end of May a single individual’s compromised password snowballed into an avalanche of stolen login credentials for some major corporations.

One person.

Nationwide impact.

Even though this did not happen at Cornell, this breach could cause problems on our campus. Take some easy steps today to protect your Cornell, and your personal, accounts.

Do you use your Cornell email and NetID password on non-Cornell sites?

Sure, it makes it easier to log in to Ticketmaster or Advance Auto Parts, but hackers may now know your credentials for Cornell’s systems. That @cornell.edu username could be a dead giveaway.

Instead of reusing passwords, use a password manager so that one compromised site doesn’t take down your entire life.

If your password is short, it’s easier for a hacker to break.

The problem is, the longer your password, the harder it is to remember!

Here are some tips to make a memorable, fortress-level password.

Long passwords and waiting for a Duo push take forever!

It’s no surprise that people take a quicker path with short and reused passwords, right? If only you could log in with just a touch!

Speed up your login with the Secure Connect passkey service. Passkeys are the new security kid on the block – they combine biometrics on your computer with complicated cryptography so you can securely log in to any CUWebLogin site with a touch or a smile. An added bonus – it’s even more secure than Duo!
