November Google Quota Change for Recent Alumni

This article applies to: Cornell Google Workspace for Students

In November, recent graduates' affiliation changes from student to alumni. Alumni Google accounts, including email and Drive, are limited to 5 Gigabytes (GB).

If an account is larger than 5 GB when the change occurs, it will no longer send or receive email, and no more files can be uploaded until storage is reduced below 5 GB. Alumni accounts that are not reduced below 5 GB are soon deleted.

Individuals whose accounts are in this state may request a one-time seven-day grace period that will allow the account to receive email while work is done to reduce storage. Once the grace period ends, the ability to receive email will again stop. The grace period can only be requested once. Request a one-time seven-day grace period.

Notifications about the change are sent to affected accounts starting in July and continue until the change occurs.
