Research computing is evolving rapidly as AI, advanced modeling, large-scale data analysis, and growing security requirements reshape how research is conducted. To help Cornell meet these emerging needs, the Research Computing Design Team is proposing a Research Computing Service Unification Program that would strengthen coordination among existing providers, including BioHPC, CAC, CCSS, and affiliated research centers.

The proposed federated model would preserve specialized expertise while improving collaboration, planning, and resource sharing across the research computing community. By coordinating investments and identifying needs across Cornell, the initiative aims to build a more resilient and adaptable research computing ecosystem that can support future research and discovery.
