Curtis Cole and Christopher Cowen

Workday has been selected as the university’s new technology foundation for managing finance, budget, HR, research, and student services. This major milestone in the Cornell Experience Modernization Initiative (CEMI) was jointly announced on October 1, 2025, by Chief Global Information Officer Curtis Cole and Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Christopher Cowen.

Cole said this decision reflects the deep engagement, insights, and expertise of more than 200 Cornell community members across Ithaca, NYC, and Doha, who helped define the requirements and evaluate potential solutions.

Cowen said Workday’s robust, cloud-based solution supports CEMI’s guiding principle: to be as common as possible, as different as absolutely necessary by aligning administrative processes and data, improving data transparency, and enhancing efficiency across all campuses.
