Management's Role and Activities in CIT Job Shadowing
This article applies to: CIT Job Shadowing
I’m an assistant director or manager for CIT, what’s my role in job shadowing?
CIT assistant directors (ADs) are the main contact points for CIT Job Shadowing unless a manager has been nominated to be the contact point instead.
If you’ve agreed to allow your team to take part in CIT Job Shadowing, then the CIT Job Shadowing team will forward any requests to you when a shadower asks to visit your area.
Your role would be to match the shadower with someone in your department. You can do this any way you’d like, but we’ll provide an email template on this page if you’d like to copy, paste, and email the shadower and your staff member.
What do I do with this information?
Once you receive the request, you’ll just need to link up the shadower and your staff member. This should be as simple as forwarding the request email message along to your employee and the shadower, along with a little bit of information to give them context.
Feel free to use the following template to copy and paste into your message to both the shadowing and the host:
Hello,
I’m emailing both of you in response to a CIT Job Shadowing request that came through to our department.
Both the shadower, and our department’s host are copied on this email message. It is now the job shadower’s responsibility to reach out to our host to set up a short introduction meeting, and then schedule the actual job shadow activity.
Please review the guidelines for both of you at the below links.

Once you’re done with the job shadow, please provide feedback to the CIT Job Shadowing team at:
Thank you both for helping CIT.
Once you’ve linked the two individuals, the shadower will be responsible to schedule time with your host staff member.
After the job shadow event
We’re always working to improve the job shadowing activities to make it easier and enjoyable for our CIT friends. If you’d like to provide any feedback, please feel free to do so with either a quick Qualtrics survey, or an email to our team.

If you have any questions please email us at: cit_jobshadowing@cornell.edu.
How can we join CIT Job Shadowing activities?
If you are not part of job shadowing yet, simply have the department’s AD or a manager email CIT Job Shadowing indicating that you’d like your team to get involved.
When we receive the message, we’ll reach out to you and your AD if you aren’t the AD, to confirm that there aren't any complications with your team's involvement.
