Share is Reaching Capacity

This article applies to: Shared File Services

On both Unix and Windows systems it’s possible to verify the total, used, and free space for shares. Alerts are sent to the administrative contacts for the share when the used capacity reaches warning or critical thresholds.

Windows: Right-click on the network mapped share, select Properties, and look at the General tab.

Mac (to an SMB share): Open a terminal window, identify the “/Volume/...” entry that corresponds with the share, and check the output of “df -h /Volume/cit-...”

Unix: Look at the output of “df -k /mountpoint” or “df -h /mountpoint”
