Search in Outlook on the Web

Outlook on the web lets you search your messages in a variety of ways.

This article applies to: Outlook on the Web

Microsoft frequently updates the design of Outlook on the web, so your version may not match exactly the description given here.

The search bar is located in the middle of the red, Cornell-themed toolbar. Click in the bar and type the search term.

The results won't be displayed until you do one of the following:

  • Click the magnifying glass icon.
  • Press Enter on your keyboard.
  • Select one of the options Outlook suggests. As you type, Outlook on the Web will present options below the search bar. The first section is keyword results, which displays text found in the body or subject of your messages. Below that are matches in the From field of messages. Below From you'll see additional entries if it finds people in the directory or your contacts who match your search term.

To exit your search results, click the left-pointing arrow in the search bar.
