Update Computers Running Windows 10 Release 1909, 2004, and Older

On October 11, 2022, all centrally managed computers in Central Patching running Windows 10 Release 2004, Release 1909, and older versions will be upgraded to a supported version of Windows. To avoid the disruption that can occur with a non-deferrable mandatory update, IT staff who support centrally managed endpoints for their IT Service Group should patch affected computers now. The update, Windows 10 21H2, is available in Software Center.
A list of all affected computers enrolled in Central Patching has been supplied to IT Service Groups. If you coordinate support and maintenance for computers in your unit and don't have a copy, contact md-pc@cornell.edu. If you have questions about how to communicate with the individuals whose computers need to be updated, a suggested template is available. See Windows 10 "Safety Net" Feature Update Deployment--End User Guide in Cornell Confluence.
Microsoft ended support for Windows 10 Release 1909 in May 2022. To protect the security and privacy of Cornell and personal data, university IT leadership approved that the upcoming patch and future operating system patching will occur automatically when old versions become unsupported.
