Turning on Network Security Profiles on March 9, 2016

On Wednesday March 9, 2016 CIT's Network Engineering will be adding an additional layer of security to the Wi-Fi networks, the residence hall networks, computer labs, and staff access nets.

The new network security profiles runs a filter that identifies and blocks viruses and attacks on these networks. When content is blocked users will see a message that says: Cornell’s Network Security Profiles Blocked Malicious Content.

For more information on this message visit the Wi-Fi Troubleshooting Tip page.

The network security profiles are an additional layer of security added to these networks that already includes other security measures that blocks well-known malicious sites and protects Cornell Campus IT addresses from outside scanning. The network security profiles have been running in test mode since January 4, 2016 and was turned on at 120 Maple the week of February 22nd.
