Student Email Routing and Forwarding Change Rescheduled for October 7, 2018

The previously announced change to student email routing has been rescheduled for October 7, 2018.

For most students, the change should not be noticeable. They'll receive their email as they always have, with Office 365 taking the place of Cornell systems in routing their incoming mail to their Cornell Google account.

However, the change will affect students who've set forwarding in Cornell Who I Am to automatically deliver their Cornell email to another account. When the routing change occurs, mail will not pass through campus systems and so will not interact with Who I Am forwarding settings. Email forwarding must be set in the student's Cornell Google account. When this is done, Who I Am forwarding should be deleted to avoid duplicating delivery.

More than half the students who were using Who I Am for forwarding have set up forwarding in Google instead. Even so, several thousand students are still using Who I Am forwarding. Rescheduling to October will allow more time and opportunities to reach these students, some of which aren't available during break.
