Software Development SIG May, 16, 2018

The next meeting of the Software Development SIG (SD-SIG) is May 16, 10:00am - 11:00am in 102 Mann Library. During this meeting the web team from the Lab of Ornithology will share their journey to the AWS Cloud and mobile optimized journey for All About Birds, then Brian Caruso will give an introduction to React.   Coffee and donuts will be provided. The SD-SIG is meant for anyone actively developing software or just interested in software development.

  2. All About Birds: Journey to the AWS Cloud and Mobile Optimized Design 
    An overview of how the Web Team at Cornell Lab of Ornithology designed, coded, and deployed All About Birds, a site with 14 million visitors a year. We'll cover the entire production process and the lessons learned. Technologies include: Foundation, NodeJS, Express, Angular, PUG, MongoDB, Jenkins, Elastic Beanstalk w/Docker, AWS Lambda, API Gateway, etc.

    This talk introduces the React javascript library for user interfaces. We'll go over how to get started with React, the main concepts and our experiences using React.
