The next meeting of the Software Development SIG (SD-SIG) is Thursday, January 25, from 2:00pm-3:00pm in 102 Mann Library. The SD-SIG is open to anyone actively developing software or just interested in software development. At the January event, DevOps cloud engineer Ian Dillon will discuss Terraform concepts and use cases, and Brett Haranin and Scarlett Zuo will present on data analysis, integration, and reporting methods used at Research Administration Information Services (RAIS). Coffee and donuts will be provided. You may also attend remotely via Zoom.

Cloud Infrastructure as Code with Terraform
Speaker: Ian Dillon, DevOps cloud engineer, CIT
Topic: An introduction to HashiCorp’s Terraform concepts and use cases to build and manage cross-cloud infrastructure.
Data Analysis, Integration, and Reporting Platform at RAIS
Speakers: Brett Haranin, software engineer, RAIS; Scarlett Zuo, data analyst/engineer, RAIS
Topic: An overview and demo of how RAIS is using Docker, Python, Pandas, Jupyter, and related tools for data analysis, integration, and report delivery processes. The focus will be on how the platform has allowed RAIS to embrace a growing diversity of data sources, targets, and types.
