SharePoint SIG Meeting March 22

The next meeting of the Cornell SharePoint Special Interest Group (SIG) will be Tuesday, March 22, from 2-3:30pm in 226 Weill Hall.

The SharePoint SIG is open to anyone interested in learning about and discussing SharePoint. The agenda for the March 22 meeting includes:

Proposals & Projects
A demonstration of a customized SharePoint and Project Online solution for project management.  Kenton Hensley will join us from the Cornell Planning and Program Management (PPM) office to talk about their use of SharePoint for project management.  His presentation will range from introductory to advanced SharePoint concepts:

“Planning and Program Management has been using a Project Online collection to put everything about its operations and planning in one place.  Finding the functionality of Project Web App not quite appropriate for our immediate needs (though definitely on the Roadmap), PPM embarked on a project to provide greater visibility into the demand for PPM services, status of our projects and consistent Project Sites.  Kenton Hensley will share some of what has been accomplished using standard SharePoint functionality and customizations using JavaScript/REST.”

Introduction to Custom Lists
Continuing on from last time, Dan Elswit will continue his discussion of using custom lists as databases, and, time permitting, will demonstrate a lending library application that allows publications, equipment, etc. to be requested and requests and inventory tracked and automatically managed.
