Retiring CNAMEs May Impact Some Users
The CIT Information Systems team will retire 58,000 CNAMEs on Monday, May 22, 2017 that were created during the Office 365 project. For the most part these CNAMEs are no longer used. However, some users may still have their Thunderbird, or other IMAP client, configured to use their personal CNAME as a way to find the IMAP server.
Users who have been identified as still using their CNAME have been notified, however, we know there are other users who we are unable to identify who may still be using their CNAME. If a client is configured to get mail from their CNAME their mail client will stop working when we delete the CNAME.
