Remove Unneeded Box Folders, Organize with Collections

Related services: Box

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by the volume of folders in your Cornell Box account, it may be a good time for a cleanup. Here’s one approach you can use by visiting cornell.box.com.

  1. Start with the oldest.

If a folder hasn’t had an update in years, it might be a good candidate for cleanup. When in All Files in Box, click the Updated header until the oldest content is on top.
  2. End Collaboration on folders shared to you that you don’t need.
Hover over the name, click … (More Options), select More Actions, then End Collaboration
  3. Trash your folders you don’t need anymore.
Hover over the name, click … (More Options), then click Trash.
  4. Change your mind about something you threw out?
Retrieve it. From the left-hand menu, select Trash. Hover over the item you want back, click … (More Options) and select Restore. Content stays in the Trash for 30 days before it's automatically permanently deleted.
  5. Organize the content you're keeping with Collections.
Box Collections lets you make private collections of content you own or share. Learn more about Collections.
