Qualtrics Surveys: Approval Needed for Custom "From" Addresses Sept. 1, 2019

Due to changes being made by Qualtrics to improve email delivery, starting September 1, 2019, when using the Qualtrics Mailer in Cornell's survey service, it will be necessary to use as the "From" address one of the following:
- The default "From" address of email@example.com*
- An address set up in advance by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org. These addresses will generally be a multipart Cornell address resembling the default, or where applicable a college or departmental email address (these resemble @departmentname.cornell.edu).
This requirement only affects invitations being sent using the Qualtrics Mailer within the service. Sending a Qualtrics anonymous survey link when using a different mail service is not affected.
To be able to send Qualtrics survey invitations from an address other than email@example.com, contact firstname.lastname@example.org to begin the process of setting one up.
After September 1, Qualtrics will not send invitations that have a "From" address other than the options listed above. Also, Qualtrics will only send invitations whose "Reply-To" is an approved "From" address or the email address of the account being used to send the invitation.
It's previously been possible to type any address into the "From" and "Reply-To" fields of the Qualtrics Mailer. Email service providers are increasingly likely to treat emails that resemble these as suspicious, prompting Qualtrics to act. This change will improve the odds that a survey invitation will be delivered to recipients' email inbox, instead of being classified as spam or junk.
* The default email setting is currently email@example.com. It is planned to become firstname.lastname@example.org once the change review process is complete.
