PMI Meeting April 26: Time Clock Installation for Workday Project

The April 26 meeting of Ithaca's Project Management Institute (PMI) features Tom Theimer from Cornell Information Technologies, speaking on the Time Clock Installation for Workday Project.

Description: Learn how the physical infrastructure project installing time clocks for tracking in Workday was accomplished and how it fit within a software project. Hear tips for IT project managers on networks and construction installations. We will cover the considerations in infrastructure projects that are not typical of IT software projects. Attendees will receive one professional development unit (PDU) for technical project management.

Tom Theimer, PMP, has worked at Cornell University for 30 years in network and telecommunications information technologies. He's managed a wide variety of installations, from the very first LAN cables and equipment to leading-edge classroom AV installations and a critical 911 system install. During his project management and infra-engineering career, Theimer has designed numerous building cable plants and led several voice and data service teams. His experience with managing network and communications infrastructure projects to better support Cornell’s high-bandwidth technologies led to his most recent--and largest--capital project to upgrade 38 campus buildings, 9,000 network ports, 2,200 VoIP connections, and 1,100 wireless access points, within a budget of $16.8 million.
