Outlook for Windows troubleshooting: Support and Recovery Assistant for Office 365

Support providers who assist people with troubleshooting email problems may want to investigate the Support and Recovery Assistant for Office 365, recently launched by  Microsoft.

Primarily focusing on Outlook for Windows at this time, the assistant can help sort out problems like:

  • Outlook stops responding
  • Can't receive emails
  • Outlook keeps asking for a password
  • Shared mailboxes or shared calendars don't work.
  • Outlook keeps saying "Trying to connect..." or "Disconnected"

According to Microsoft, the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant for Office 365 can help automatically diagnose and fix a range of Outlook problems. After downloading the application to a Windows computer, sign in with your Cornell account and select the issue you want help with. The application will run a series of diagnostic tests and help you set up a new profile. If any of the tests fails, it will suggest solutions.
