New IT Professional Badging Program on CIO site

The new IT@Cornell Professional Badging initiative is for all IT employees who want a modernized way to highlight their achievements, experiences, professional development, and engagement.

According to EDUCAUSE, “Badges serve as a digital transcript or learning narrative that highlights interest and development in particular subject areas and also communicates an individual’s participation and membership in professional communities.”

A badge is a visual and digital representation of an accomplishment, achievement, or skill acquisition. IT@Cornell staff can earn badges in three “tracks”:  career and self-development; innovation; and engagement: collaboration, communication and community service.

The IT@Cornell professional badging committee issues badges via Credly, an independent credentialing company that issues badges via institutions such as EDUCAUSE and other peer institutions like Harvard and Stanford. Individuals who earn badges can display them on their websites, blogs, and social media profiles such as LinkedIn.
