Cornell Career Services, in partnership with the IT Security Office, has added a new page to its website dedicated to student cybersecurity awareness: Beware of Job and Internship Scams. Students are encouraged to be vigilant and rely on legitimate resources when searching for positions to avoid scams.
Scammers have been contacting Cornell students, pretending to be faculty offering part-time research and administrative jobs. Those who apply to the phony listings end up losing their own money through fraudulent banking transactions. The best place to find legitimate student opportunities is through Career Services or Cornell Student Employment.
