Kuali Data Warehouse transitions to the Cloud
On Monday, September 26, the production KDW (Kuali Data Warehouse) successfully transitioned to cloud hosting in AWS (Amazon Web Services). This transition came after CIT Office of Data Architecture & Analytics staff re-architected core components of the KDW to utilize new and different replication and ETL (extract, transform and load) tools and after working closely with DFA Financial Systems Administration & Information Delivery staff to test and confirm functionality and performance. When the on-premise KDW is fully ended, CIT will retire four physical servers (two Oracle RACs) and five virtual machines.
The KDW is the university’s central financial data warehouse. The KDW’s 500 million records are projected to grow by 95 million records annually. It supports approximately 2,200 distinct, active users and over 75,000 queries each month.
