Improvement to Monthly Domain Audit Report: Please Check Registered Names

Related services: DNS

Starting Monday, July 2, 2018, the Monthly Domain Audit Reports sent to Cornell Net Admins will include new information about offsite records. Network administrators should review the report details and when appropriate discuss them with staff responsible for the websites to make any needed updates to DNSDB. In particular, please check for outdated registered names that still point to sites that are no longer live.

In addition to the changes to the report, new web documentation is available that provides guidance on managing DNS records for off-site websites and services. It contains:

  • Managing A and AAAA Records to Non-Cornell Addresses
  • Managing CNAMEs to Non-Cornell Targets
  • Special Considerations for Three-Part Domain CNAMEs
  • DNS Delegation

For details, see Manage DNS Records for Off-Site Websites and Services.

In order to maintain the security and efficiency of Cornell resources, when the new report becomes available, please take this opportunity to review the improved Monthly Domain Audit Report closely, and make needed updates to DNSDB as soon as possible.

If you have any questions, please contact hostmaster@cornell.edu.
