Email Router Upgrade
The week of February 20, 2017 CIT will be upgrading our current email routers. This process will take four days as we transition to the new routers. The new inbound email routers will support industry best practices in spam quarantine management. This includes the ability to identify and quarantine suspicious messages, rather than rejecting them. This will limit a spammer’s visibility into delivery behavior of Cornell’s mail system. We are still flagging spam at 50% or more probability, the only difference is that these messages will be quarantined instead of rejected.
End users will now be able to use the PureMessage system to manage their quarantined mail, including whitelist and blacklist ability, as well as having the option of receiving a daily digest of quarantined email. More information will be provided in next week’s IT news on how to use PureMessage.
