CAC Fall 2022 Research Computing Seminar Series
The Cornell Center for Advanced Computing has announced the CAC Research Computing Seminar Series for Fall 2022.
Computational Resources for Cornell Researchers
Thursday, September 22, 2022, from 12:15 to 1:15pm
Do you need to scale up your computation and find larger resources? The Cornell Center for Advanced Computing (CAC) can help you find and use resources available on campus, through national allocations, and in the cloud. This lunch seminar describes the array of computational resources available to faculty and student researchers at Cornell and in the national community, how to gain access to them, and how to get support to use them efficiently. Speaker: Rich Knepper, CAC Director, and CAC staff.
Interactive Data Visualization with Bokeh
Wednesday, October 26, 2022, from 12:15 to 1:15pm
Displaying Scientific Data with Tableau
Thursday, November 17, 2022, from 12:15 to 1:15pm
Tableau is a popular and capable software product for creating charts that present data and dashboards that allow you to explore data. It is typically used to present business or statistical data, but can also create compelling visualizations of scientific data. However, scientific data is often generated or stored in formats that are not immediately accessible by Tableau. This lunch seminar will explore the data formats that work best with Tableau and the available mechanisms for generating scientific data (or converting it to) those formats so you can apply the full power of Tableau to create the best possible visualizations of your data. Speaker: Ben Trumbore, CAC Computational Scientist.
CAC Fall 2022 Research Computing Seminars will take place in Room 401 of the Physical Sciences Building. Registration is not required. Cornell faculty, students and staff are welcomed. Box lunches to go will be available to attendees at the seminar’s completion (note: 40 seats available/room capacity 65).
