Announcing the Cornell Student Experience Initiative

Last week, the Office of the Provost announced the Cornell Student Experience Initiative (CSEI), a partnership between the Provost, the colleges and schools, and the Division of Student and Campus Life, in collaboration with the Office of the Vice President for Information Technologies and CIO.

The CSEI will create digital applications that make it easier for students to find and participate in Cornell programs both on and off campus. These applications will also help staff more effectively support, advise, and mentor students. CIT is leading the development effort.

The applications will be built using Salesforce, a customer relationship management (CRM) system that is successfully being used in several colleges. They will be populated with data from PeopleSoft, Workday, and other university systems of record.

A steering committee and working group have been convened to represent the interests of the university as a whole, plus individual colleges, schools, and programs. The working group plans to hold workshops for the business units and restart the CRM Special Interest Group (CRM-SIG).

For more information, contact IT innovation officer Rebecca Joffrey at, or visit the CSEI website.
