Install Longview With Active Directory But Not Endpoint Management Tools Service

System Requirements

  • Windows 7 or 10 (32-bit or 64-bit)
  • MS Office 2013 or 2016 (32-bit)
  • MS Excel 2013 or 2016 (32 bit)
  • Internet Explorer (IE) version 11 (32 bit)
  • JRE 1.8.0
  • .NET version 4.5.2 or 4.6.1

LV Software Requirements

Existing users DO NOT need to upgrade web controls, security certificates, or IE configuration parameters. These components will function as before. (If you do need to upgrade IE for some reason, see the parameter instructions at the end of this page). You do need to upgrade Longview for Excel.

To upgrade Longview for Excel:

  1. While on the Longview user’s workstation, running as the Administrator, download the Longview for Excel file.
  2. Unzip the file.
  3. Uninstall any previous version of Longview for Excel – cornellprd (either Version 7.2.x.nnnn, Version 7.3.x.nnnn or Version 10.1.nnnn) using the Windows Control Panel Programs and Features.
  4. Run install_64_bit_OS.bat for a 64-bit operating system or install_32_bit_OS.bat for a 32-bit operating system to install the current version of Longview for Excel – cornellprd.

Instructions for new installations of web controls and security certificates--existing 7.2.1 versions will continue to work with 7.3, no need to update

In Group Policy Management deploy the following two GPOs to the systems that will be using Longview. Copy and paste your own copy of the following Group Policies.

  1. Group policy for installing certificates as follows:
    • Find MD - Longview Certs for 7.2.1 in Domains -> cornell.edu -> Group Policy Objects.
    • Find the group with the computers that the GPO is to be deployed to, right-click the group name, select link an existing GPO, then select <YourOU> - Longview Certs for 7.2.1.
  2. Group policy for setting Internet Explorer settings as follows:
    • Find MD - Longview IE Settings in Domains -> cornell.edu -> Group Policy Objects.
    • Find the group with the computers that the GPO is to be deployed to, right-click the group name, select link an existing GPO, then select <YourOU> - Longview IE Settings.
