Google Workspace (previously G Suite) provides email, calendar, cloud storage, and collaboration services.

On This Page

This information is relevant to you if you see this message when you log in at gsuite.cornell.edu:

There are two existing Google Accounts for netid@cornell.edu. Which account do you want to use?

You will see this message if you previously signed up for a Google Docs account (or another Google non-email service) using your netid@cornell.edu email address for your login credentials. You can still have access to that account, but you will need to associate it with a different email address.

Choosing Which Account

We suggest you choose the second option, Individual Google Account.

  • If you choose Organizational G Suite Account, you will be taken to your new Cornell Google Workspace account. You will not have access to any documents associated with your previous account at this time, but you will see this message again the next time you log in and will be free to choose the other option then.
  • If you choose Individual Google Account, you will then be asked to specify a different email address to associate with your previous account. Continue with the If You Chose "Individual Google Account" section below.

If You Chose "Individual Google Account"

You will be presented with two options to associate your previous account with a different address. After this, you will not see the "two accounts" message again.

  • If you choose the first option, An account with Gmail and a new Gmail address, you will be asked to create a new Gmail address. You cannot specify an existing Gmail address; you must create a new one. To access that account, which will include all documents associated with your previous account, on future occasions, you will log in at gmail.com.
  • If you choose the second option, An account that uses a non-Google email address you already own, you will be asked to specify an existing non-Google address to which you already have access. To access that account, which will include all documents associated with your previous account, on future occasions, you will log in at accounts.google.com.
