Find Node 9 Groups (CornellAD Group Management)

This article applies to: Group Management

This page explains what is shown in the PeopleSoft HR Tree, and how best to use what you see there.

To find the exact names of Node 9 groups in the PeopleSoft HR Tree, visit the Cornell University HR Tree page.

You will sign in with your NetID and password.

Click on any plus sign to expand that branch of the tree, or click Expand All to see the entire tree. You'll see something like this:

The entries in parentheses are the node names. The first four listed in the screenshot above are president, aad, aad-alumni, and aaadmrel.

Node 9 groups are the ones at the end of their branch (think of them as the leaves on the tree). You'll see that their listings have no plus or minus sign next to them, because there's nothing "under" them, nothing to expand. Of the first four nodes listed, only aaadmrel is a Node 9.

Many,* but not all, Node 9 groups in the HR Tree have a CornellAD Node 9-based reference group that has been permission-enabled for use with Cornell's Exchange system. The name of the reference group takes the form

rg.node9name.employee

For example, for the node aaaffin, the matching Node 9-based reference group is rg.aaaffin.employee. (NOT including the trailing period there. That's just for the end of the sentence.)

The PeopleSoft HR Tree contains Node 9 groups that are outdated and unpopulated. These Node 9 groups have not been permission-enabled for use with Cornell's Exchange system. A Node 9 group must have at least one member to be permission-enabled for Exchange.

You can verify whether a Node 9 group is permission-enabled by searching for it in the Exchange address book (use the form rg.node9name as explained above).
