Forward Email to Multiple Accounts from Cornell G Suite Account (Not Recommended)
Don't forward your email if you can avoid it. Cornell recommends that you receive and send your Cornell email in Google by signing in to gsuite.cornell.edu (or if you prefer, connecting an app to the service.) Mail automatically forwarded to outside accounts can be interrupted without warning for number of reasons.
If you choose to forward, Google makes it possible to automatically forward to one outside account.
Forwarding to multiple accounts is more complicated and even more likely to stop working unexpectedly. It's not recommended. However, it can be accomplished by registering multiple destination email accounts with Google, then creating several filters to send to them.
The rest of this page describes the two activities you must complete in order to forward your messages to more than one account. Again, we think this is a bad idea. Google also thinks this is a bad idea.
Add the accounts you would like to forward to
- Sign into your Cornell Google email account.
In the top right, from the Settings (gear) menu, select Settings.
Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab, then under Forwarding, click Add a forwarding address.
Enter the email address you want to forward messages to, then click Next.
- On following prompts, click Proceed, then OK.
- A verification message will be sent to that address. Click the verification link in that message.
Repeat for as many addresses as you would like to forward to.
Create filters to send your email to the destinations you set up
In the Search box, click the down arrow.
Under To, enter your NetID@cornell.edu email address, then at the bottom of the search window, click Create filter with this search.
Check Forward it to and, from the drop-down list, select the address you'd like to forward to, then click Create filter.
- Repeat for as many addresses you'd like to forward to.
Google provides instructions for deleting and managing filters in Gmail.
