Verify CAD Operation (EZ-Backup)

Use this procedure to verify that the Client Acceptor Daemon is operating properly.

  1. Verify that the CAD process is running.
    • Macintosh: Using the Activity Monitor, viewing All Processes, verify that the dsmcad process is listed
    • Windows: Start the Services Manager, and verify that the following two services are listed as shown:
      Name Status Startup Type
      TSM Client Acceptor Started Automatic
      TSM Client Scheduler Manual
  2. Verify the existence of the dsmwebcl.log and dsmsched.log
    • Macintosh: will be in /Library/Logs/tivoli Folder (note: NOT the /Users/Library/Logs/tivoli folder)
    • Windows: will be in C:\Program Files\Tivoli\TSM\baclient directory
  3. Using a text editor, open the dsmwebcl.log, and verify text like the following

  4. Using a text editor, open the dsmsched.log, and verify text like the following

  5. If all these check out, the CAD is operating properly! If any fail, please contact the EZ-Backup team for more help.
