If you experience problems (as described below), use the Setup Wizard available in the TSM Backup Client.

These procedures require full administrator privileges and may require a reboot of the system.

Launch the Setup Wizard

  1. Start up the TSM Backup Client (Start - (All) Programs - Tivoli Storage Manager - Backup Archive GUI).
  2. From the Utilities menu, select Setup Wizard.
  3. Select only Help me configure the TSM Client Scheduler, then click Next.
  4. Follow the procedures below according to the problem needing repair.

If the TSM Scheduler Is Not Installed

  1. Select Install a new or additional scheduler, then click Next.
  2. Take the defaults for all prompts, except the following:
    • For TSM Scheduler name, enter TSM Central Scheduler Service
    • For TSM node name, replace the default with your EZ-Backup Node Name
    • For TSM Password, enter your EZ-Backup Password
    • For When do you want the service to start, select Automatically when Windows boots.
  3. Close the TSM Backup Client application.
  4. Either reboot your system or manually start the Scheduler via the Services control panel.

If the Currently Installed Scheduler Has a Configuration Problem

  1. Select Update a previously installed scheduler, then click Next.
  2. If more than one Scheduler is listed, click Cancel and follow the steps in the "suspected of being corrupt" section below. Otherwise, continue here.
  3. Click the Scheduler name to highlight/select it.
  4. Take the defaults for all prompts, except as follows:
    • For TSM Scheduler name, enter TSM Scheduler Service.
    • For TSM node name, replace the default with your EZ-Backup Node Name.
    • For TSM Password, enter your EZ-Backup Password.
  5. Close the TSM Backup Client application.
  6. If you selected "Automatically when Windows boots" (in step 4) for the first time, reboot your computer or start the Service manually in the Services control panel.

If the Currently Installed Scheduler Is Suspected of Being Corrupted

  1. Select Remove a previously installed scheduler, then click Next.
  2. Highlight the Scheduler in the list that needs removal.
  3. In the Completing the TSM Client Configuration Wizard window, click Finish.
  4. If more than one Scheduler was listed, repeat these steps as many times as need to remove all of the listed Schedulers.
  5. Close the TSM Backup Client application.
  6. Reboot the system to insure that the registry entries are successfully cleared.
  7. Follow the steps in the "launch" and "not installed" sections above.
