OBIEE Reporting Tool
This article applies to: Enterprise Data Services
Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition is one of two high-end reporting tools provided centrally at Cornell. (Tableau is the other.)
Typically, OBIEE dashboards and reports are prepared by the Enterprise Data Services team. Tableau reports are prepared by colleges and units. However, there are some exceptions in either direction, and training is available for colleges and units who would like to work with OBIEE. For new requirements, please contact the Enterprise Data Services team, who will assist you in determining the best solution to meet your specific needs.
With OBIEE, you can develop and securely deploy interactive dashboards based on simple to complex data requirements. More than 100 data subject areas have been modeled in OBIEE, enabling rich reporting and data analysis. OBIEE security allows for access tailored to individual and group roles.
You can also create and share customer reports (Analysis) and the ability to schedule and deliver reports to various constituents (Agents).
Where appropriate and permitted, you can use OBIEE to “write back” data to the warehouse to facilitate joining local data with warehouse data to enhance your reports and overall business experience.
Users at Cornell
Campus users range from dashboard and report developers to consumers. These administrative areas are currently in OBIEE:
• Alumni Affairs
• Research Administration
• Workday time tracking
Additionally, many colleges have local dashboards that access data from those administrative areas.
For a detailed description of what data is available through OBIEE, please contact the Enterprise Data Services team.
OBIEE User Group
This group shares OBIEE (Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition) reporting solutions being used on campus, fosters use of the OBIEE reporting infrastructure, and provides opportunities for knowledge exchange among distributed users. The group typically meets every month. Participants include OBIEE analysis and dashboard developers from many campus units and staff from the Enterprise Data Services team. If you're using OBIEE or interested in using it, please join the user group and the mailing list (OBIEE-FORUM-L) by emailing the Business Intelligence Support team.
