This page is intended for IT support professionals. End users should contact local IT support.

For non-emergency patches, OS and software patches follow this cycle:

Day 1 (Tuesday Afternoon)

  • Patches are deployed on in-house test systems
  • Regression testing scripts are run
  • Patches are also installed on Desktop Engineering internal systems

Day 2 (Wednesday)

  • In the morning, patches are installed on designated test groups for all MD customers who use central patching.
  • Users in test groups get a pop-up message when patches are available and may proactively install patches any time throughout the day.
  • At the deadline (4pm) the patches are installed and the system is rebooted (if required) if the user has not already installed.

Day 4 (Friday)

  • Feedback is assessed.
  • If issues have occurred, evaluate options with IT Security Office.
  • If no negative feedback, patches are made available to all MD customers who use central patching. Deadline is following Tuesday, 4pm. Pop-ups occur from Friday through early Tuesday and the user may proactively install patches at any time during this period.

Day 8 (Following Tuesday)

  • At the deadline (4pm) the patches are installed and the system is rebooted (if required) if the user has not already installed.
