Local account management lets you create local accounts on managed computers, remove accounts, and reset their passwords.

  1. Log into your JSS site at https://jssmgt.it.cornell.edu/<JSSInstance>
replacing <JSSInstance> with your instance's name.
    For example, https://jssmgt.it.cornell.edu/limnology
  2. Click Computers.
  3. Click Policies.
  4. Click the blue plus sign icon.
  5. Enter a Display Name.
  6. Select a Site, a Category, a Trigger, and an Execution Frequency.
  7. Under the Options tab, click Local Accounts.
  8. Click Configure.
  9. From the Action drop-down list, select the desired action and complete the required information.
    • New Account: enter the account information (required fields are indicated).
    • Reset Account Password: enter Username (the short name for the account) and a new password twice.
    • Delete Account: for Username, enter the short name for the account, then check Permanently delete home directory.
  10. Click Save.

Casper does not include a provision for changing the password hint associated with a local account, so if you change the password, the hint will no longer be accurate.
