How CU Print Works (Overview)

Just the Facts

This article applies to: CU Print

CU Print is replacing Net-Print as the service that allows you to print from your computer (or a lab computer or a friend's) to a number of printers on campus. You'll send your print jobs to a print queue for either black and white printers or color printers. Then, when you are standing in front of the printer where you want to collect your document, you'll tell the printer to print it.

Here's how that happens:

  1. You install the CU Print (PaperCut) software on your computer. Lab computers already have it installed. This process causes the two print queues to show up as printer choices.
  2. You can, optionally, make one of the print queues your default for all printing.
  3. When you want to print a document, select one of the print queues during the printing steps (in an application like Microsoft Word). If you've set a print queue as your default, you can skip this step.
  4. Go to the printer where you want to collect your document. Hover your Cornell ID card over the card reader attached to the printer, or use the CU Print web portal (on your computer or device) to release your document to that particular printer.

There are more details, but these are the basics.
