Wired Connection and Registration for COECIS networks

When you plug your device into a COECIS network port for the first time, follow the instructions below:

  1. Start your computer and open a web browser (such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Internet Explorer).
  2. Go to the Cornell Network Registration and Security System page. (This page may open automatically.)
  3. Complete the online registration.
  4. Restart your computer.

From then on, when you connect to the COECIS network, you will receive a Dynamic IP address. Your registration is valid for one year; after that you will need to re-register.

If your academic department provides you with a system and/or your research requires a Static IP address, you may request one via the ITSG Help Desk. Requests will be reviewed by the ITSG Network & Security team, who will assist you.
