G Suite for Education Overview

The student service formerly known as Cmail is being rebranded (fall 2018). The service is, and always has been, a service provided by Google. In 2018, Google calls this G Suite for Education. At Cornell, it's now known as G Suite for Students; it remains the same service it has always been. A related service is G Suite for Faculty and Staff.

G Suite for Students (formerly Cmail) has been the default email, calendar, and collaboration service for students and alumni since 2009. Despite the name change, it remains the same service.

G Suite for Faculty and Staff is an optional service, made available starting in 2018 to support collaboration with students and colleagues at other institutions. Microsoft Office 365 remains the official email calendaring system for faculty and staff. To avoid scheduling conflicts, all room and equipment reservations MUST be made using Outlook's Calendar. Cornell does not offer integration between G Suite and Office 365, and will not provide support for any third-party solutions.
