Proctoring Services

This article applies to: Academic Technology Center

Proctoring services provide a secure, convenient way for instructors to administer online exams to students in remote locations (off-campus, outside the classroom). Selecting a proctoring service to support your online or blended course will depend on many factors.

Academic Technologies, along with other campus partners, has completed an evaluation of six proctoring solutions (there are many available.) We invited three vendors to demonstrate their services, and have concluded that two vendors will meet current instructor needs in the following areas:

  • Positive student and instructor experience
  • Security and academic integrity (authentication, proctoring)
  • Exam transcripts and recordings
  • On-demand technical support across multiple time zones
  • Reporting options for instructors and administrative departments (title IX, etc.)
  • FERPA, ADA compliance
  • Support for large classes

Academic Technologies can assist instructors with identifying the services and features that best support their online exams. Please contact us at:  acadtech@cornell.edu, or call 607-255-9760.
